Benjamin Kozlovich went to schools both in Kapuskasing and Manitoulin Island.
He loves to play volleyball and football.
He joined the Canadian military (Air force) after graduating from high school.
Upon completion of basic training in Quebec, he was posted to CFB Edmonton.
While in Edmonton he completed his training as a medic and served as a member of the Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry (PPCLI) as a dismounted medic.
He was promoted to the rank of corporal.
In October of 2009 as part of the NATO mission he was deployed overseas in Afghanistan.
During his deployment Kozlovich witnessed the death of a best friend who inadvertently stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) while on foot patrol.
Kozlovich also escaped death and serious injury as he jumped from the area of another IED, resulting in a broken hand.
He served in the war torn country of Afghanistan for nine months.
Upon his return he was given the Peace Keepers medal for his tour overseas
Kozlovich still resides in Edmonton in his position as a medic.
