Celine Dion was the youngest child in a musical family of 14 siblings.
Her family owned a a piano-bar restaurant where the children could work and sing.
When Dion was 12, René Angelia, who managed singers, listened to a demo tape of her voice.
That was followed-up by Dion singing live for Angelia who was extremely impressed.
Angelia at that point became Dion's manager and her dream of a career in music ignited.
Dion won a medal for best singer at the Yamaha World Song Festival in Tokyo.
Celine Dion was the first Canadian to win a Gold Medal for sales in France.
Her fame skyrocketed when she sang the theme for a Disney film, "Beauty and the Beast"
Dion is the spokesperson of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
She and her manager eventually fell in love and were married in 1994.
Celine Dion has made numerous TV appearances including special guest shows for Oprah Winter.
One of her highlights was being chosen to sing "God Bless America" at a recent Super Bowl game.
Dion has started a chain of restaurants known as "Nickels".
Truly an international superstar, Celine Dion continues to rack up record numbers for the sales of her albums.
