David Foster is thought by many to be the most successful producer and song writer in popular music.
He seemed to develop his love for music at an early age taking music lessons at the age of five.
By age 13, David Foster had progressed enough to be accepted into the music program at the University of Washington.
Three years later, he was part of the back up band for Chuck Berry, a major rock 'n roll singer.
Foster had a band called Skylark in British Columbia who in 1971 moved with him to Los Angeles.
The band had a short life with only one hit but it gave Foster needed exposure.
In 1973, the band broke up and Foster felt he could best further his career by staying in LA.
An accomplished keyboard player, Foster became part of the pit orchestra at Roxy Theater.
He became Roxy's co-director for the Rocky Horror Picture Show where his talent was noticed by others in the music field.
Over the next several years, David Foster composed songs and helped in productions for such singing stars as John Lennon, Barbara Streisand, Boz Scaggs, and Rod Stewart.
In 1979, his song After the Love Has Gone won him his first of many Grammy Awards.
Over the next decade, David Foster was the composer, producer, and arranger for numerous number one hit songs that won him further honours.
In the 90's he collaborated on albums with superstars Celine Dion and Wendy Houston bringing him additional awards in the musical world.
David Foster sets the standard in the world of popular music and was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2006.
