Many Canadians have been called on to defend our values and to help keep the peace in nations around the world. Canadian men and women fought bravely in many battles and have
honoured our country through exceptional actions. Wars helped define who Canadians were and what Canada stands for. Anyone who has donned a military uniform and swore to
protect his country is a hero and deserves credit for making what could be the ultimate sacrifice.
Governments decide whether Canada should partake in peace keeping and peace making operations. Wars have changed somewhat in that fanatics, said to be
representing certain religions, have convinced their followers to murder thousands of innocent people by strapping on bombs and then, while walking or driving amongst the
innocents, blow themselves up killing and maiming those around them. Many Canadians have died trying to protect people against such fanatics.
