Major Notes:
Elvis Stojko began skating at a young age and won his first trophy at the age of six.
By age 17, he finished second in the Canadian Men's Championship.
He seemed to be too masculine on the ice and needed to develop his style and choreography.
Elvis Stojko, however, was a tremendous jumper and brought new excitement and challenge to the sport.
Stojko was the first skater to do the quadruple jump combination in a skating competition.
He captured his first Canadian and World Championships in 1994.
Stojko has been known to have skated in competitions under duress because of injuries.
Along the way, Elvis Stojko acquired the nick name,
The Terminator.
Over a ten year period, he captured 18 gold medals in various skating competitions.
Elvis Stojko retired from amateur skating to become a professional in 2002 and has appeared in "Stars on Ice."
